Hi everyone! Thanks so much for checking out my site! The goal of this site is to discuss my own personal experiences with foster care and the whole process of becoming a foster parent. Along the way, I’ll also share healthy recipes I’ve learned to make for my family.

My Journey

Although I’m just starting out on my path to becoming a foster parent, my story actually starts 30 years ago. I was born with a heart defect, and my mom quit her job to stay home and take care of me. Those who know my mom know that she has to have a goal to work towards at all times. So, she went through a bunch of what our family refers to as “pivots” and eventually created a food blog and business, Farm to Jar Food.

After several grueling summers of working the farmer’s markets for my mom, I moved on to college at Bradley University to study social work and Spanish. I moved out to Denver, where I currently live, to complete a Master’s of Social work and I’ve been a social worker in schools in Colorado since 2014.

As an adult, I’ve started helping my mom create some of the recipes for her blog and I hope to pair this knowledge with my experience as a foster parent.

At the end of 2020, I decided it was time to take my commitment to kids and families to the next level and decided foster care was the way to go.

This site is my experience with foster care (specifically in Colorado) and some tidbits of information I’ve learned along the way.  Whether you’re looking at foster care for yourself, know someone who is in the process or want to gain more information before diving in, I hope you enjoy the site!
